I hope Carla sees this thread. I'm sure she can relate and will have something useful to say. I love her anti-witnessing techniques.

I Had A Blood Transfusion! Whoopeeeeeee!!
by HadEnuf ini haven't been on here in years...or many, many months...had just gotten my computer copy of "armageddon okies" and got to reading it and then was directed to this forum by another article and so many memories came back of how much this forum helped me as we left the jw's over 10 years ago.. the most significant thing to happen to me was when i had a second back surgery just this past april.
my blood count was extremely low because of the blood loss during my 6 hours of surgery and they suggested that i should have a blood transfusion.
i didn't even have to think about it...yes...bring it on...hang that little bag of blood up there so i can watch it drip into my veins.

JWs pretended to be someone else at my door.
by myusername inthis is probably in the wrong section, but i couldn't decide where to put it.
i was raised a jw and i still suffer effects from that kind of upbringing.. anyway, they said they were local community volunteers and they wanted to give me something related to the community.
i didn't open the door but they put a jw tract through it.. i don't think it's right to be so devious about recruitment.

How many you you hated to wait in the car while someone was on a good call!
by life is to short insomething i have not heard before on this board is waiting in the car out in service or any of the woman who were elders wives waiting on their husbands while in an elders meeting.. i was 24 years old when i got married to an older man he was 41 and had been an elder for about 12 years.
i truly loved my husband when we got married.
i truly loved him like crazy.

I loved the long calls! Anything to waste time. I would gladly have sat in the car all day rather than knock on doors.

I so completely understand being in "Ex-JW Purgatory".
A two-year plan administered by a professional would have been wonderful but I probably wouldn't have accepted the idea that I needed one. Toughed it out, and here I am, almost 10 years later, still having a hard time.
Most therapists don't know anything about ex-jws and the repurcussions of leaving. Perhaps it would be therapeutic if ex-witnesses could be called by them for experiences, ideas, views, help, etc.

Congress must approve it before it can happen.

Open Letter To Jehovah's Witnesses
by Outaservice inyou may not remember, but i know you very well.
i met you a long time ago when you came to my house with your smiling faces, your neat clothes, and your soft voices, and a bible tucked neatly under your arm.
you told me many beautiful stories of a "paradise earth," and a "righteous new system" which would be established shortly.

Elders wife says being upset with pedophiles in the hall being the same as having to eat sauerkraut and wieners.
by life is to short inthis couple in our hall an elder and his wife gave us a anniversary gift.
it is a wall hanging that says "as for me and my household sister life is to short and hubby will worship jehovah forever.".
i felt i should send her a thank you card even though i hate the gift.

I had an elder's wife ask me why I cared so much about the pedophile issue in our hall because-and I quote her-"it didn't happen to YOUR kids."

Religion after JW
by tmj4477 inhello i was raised a witness from 7 to 17 then i left home and never looked back!
i just never could get around the logic of no birthdays (but anniversaries), the roller coaster doctrines regarding college (they ensured various generations in to poverty with that one), the balls to use the rights that they refuse to defend (im a veteran), the whole df thing (how unchristlike is that!
), back and forth variations with blood transfusions, and last but not least using "elders" to counsel the flock without giving them proper education!.
